O mnie

I am a professor at Lodz University of Technology with a research focus on the early detection of cancer utilizing advanced optical methodologies at the micro- and nanoscale. My expertise encompasses Raman, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), fluorescence, and nano-infrared (nano-IR) spectroscopy and imaging, alongside Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and Scanning Near-field Optical Microscopy (SNOM). My investigations primarily involve the identification of Raman biomarkers indicative of neoplastic transformations in human breast, brain, and lung tissues. Additionally, I explore the effects of photosensitizing agents on the vibrational spectra of ex vivo tissues within the framework of photodynamic therapy. I employ surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) facilitated by nano-metallic particles for the ultrasensitive detection of trace single molecules. My work further includes the comparative analyses of normal and malignant cell lines to elucidate biochemical and structural distinctions pertinent to cancer diagnostics.

In 2009, I participated in the Erasmus Intensive Programme entitled “Ultra Short and Intense Laser Technology and Metrology” hosted by Bordeaux University. I was awarded an honorable mention for my doctoral thesis in 2012 and have received multiple Rector’s Awards from Lodz University of Technology. My scientific career has been supported by prestigious grants, including the START Scholarship for Young Scientists awarded by the Foundation for Polish Science and a scholarship from the Lodz University of Technology’s Own Scholarship Fund. Furthermore, I completed over two years of postdoctoral research at the University of Cambridge, collaborating with Prof. Sarah Bohndiek at the Cavendish Laboratory and Cancer Research UK.
